Once a place of prosperity thanks to its salt deposits, the mountain became Hitler's holiday home and his second seat of government under the National Socialists.

The permanent exhibition "Documentation Obersalzberg" from the Institute for Contemporary History reviews the history. Over 900 photos, placards, film and audio recordings will bring you closer to history.

The Obersalzberg has even more to offer:

• Mountain air: with the Obersalzberg cable car you can easily reach the fantastic hiking area at 1,000 m above sea level.
• Rapid descent: in summer you can speed along the summer toboggan run into the valley, and in winter down the pistes of the Gutshof-Obersalzberg ski region.
