A visionary as he is in the book: Peter Hettegger is responsible for the birth of the EDELWEISS in Berchtesgaden. Together with his family, he has continued and expanded his parents’ bed and breakfast and ultimately shaped it into what it is today:

The entrepreneurial know-how and decades of experience in the hotel and hospitality industry were a perfect foundation for another EDELWEISS hotel in beautiful Berchtesgaden.
Without a doubt, Peter Hettegger’s pioneering spirit, his perseverance and his determination were decisive in turning the idea he once spun with a Berchtesgaden friend into reality.
After an intensive, not “hurdle-free” construction period of only 15 months, the EDELWEISS Berchtesgaden was ceremoniously opened in May 2010.
A strong management team consisting of daughter Martina Hettegger, son and kitchen director Stefan Hettegger and hotel director Christoph Schimpl continues to run the house today in the spirit of the family philosophy “with heart and passion”, supported by 150 loyal employees.
Only five years after the decision to built the EDELWEISS , the major project was already completed and the EDELWEISS Berchtesgaden was ceremoniously opened in May 2010.
2005Family Hettegger acquire the aging "NEUHAUS" on the market square. The oldest existing inn in Berchtesgaden is completely renovated and opens again in may.
2013Construction of a new, modern employee house with 44 employee apartments and 50 parking spaces directly in the center of Berchtesgaden with completion in October 2013.
2013It would not be the Hettegger family if new projects and ideas for the hotel were not already visualized and realized. The winter 2020/21 was used in the best possible way to renovate and redesign all 129 rooms and the EDELWEISS SPA.
