Martina Hettegger was born to be a host. Growing up in our main hotel in Grossarl, Martina Hettegger learned early on what really matters.

She has been managing the Hotel EDELWEISS in Berchtesgaden with passion, heart and soul since the opening in May 2010. Together with hotel director Christoph Schimpl and her brother, kitchen director Stefan Hettegger, and many hard-working and long-standing employees, she ensures the special, family-like EDELWEISS feel-good ambience every day. 

Martina Hettegger always has an open ear for our guests, but also for our team, and always likes to take time for a talk with guests at our EDELWEISS bar. Perhaps soon with you too?

Hotel director


When Christoph Schimpl talks about his work, his eyes start to sparkle. For four years he was head chef at Hotel EDELWEISS. Then he thought: “There is so much potential here. I want to make more of it!” – and without further ado trained to become F&B manager. In the meantime, the Upper Austrian-born is the hotel director of the EDELWEISS Berchtesgaden and therefore responsible for everything that has to do with organisation, planning, logistics and implementation of the entire hotel operation.

The brother of host Martina Hettegger is responsible for all the kitchens in our restaurants as kitchen director.
After holding positions in the great kitchens of Austria and Switzerland, he first worked as head chef in our restaurant PANORAMA and has been in charge of all kitchens since 2019.
